Youth Faith Formation

K5-9th Grade including First Communion and Confirmation

Welcome to St. Theresa's Faith Formation Program!

The goal of our faith formation program is to support and assist parents in the discipleship of their children’s faith.  You, the parent, are the primary faith educators of your children and we want to support you in that endeavor. We provide opportunities to enrich your children's faith through knowledge, prayer and the sacraments.  Their faith journey, as is yours, is a lifelong one.  Jesus is the cornerstone of our faith and we want each of you to develop a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is only through a personal relationship with Christ that we will answer His call to know, love and serve him in our parish community and beyond.

Changes due to COVID-19:

  • Classes will meet in-person on Sundays at 9:15-10:30 a.m. in their regular spaces starting September 13, 2020. We will try as best we can to have social distance between students.
  • Each family must complete and return a COVID Waiver before your registration will be deemed complete. Covid Waiver
  • Masks are strongly recommended for the students, but not required in the classrooms.
  • Temperature checks will be administered before each student is allowed to enter the classroom. If any child has a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher, they will not be able to enter the class and must be sent home.
  • A short questionnaire will have to be answered by each student before entering class to determine the risk level. If a child is deemed to be at risk, they will not be able to enter the class and must be sent home.
  • For each enrolled student, there will be online access to the curriculum in case we need to stop in-person classes and switch to e-learning at home in the future.
  • For all families who do not want to meet in-person, there will be an online option for them.

Thinking of Becoming a Catechist

Looking ahead to the 2020-2021 year:

  • We are in need of tech savvy folks. Chances are we may be doing some type of online classes and e-learning. If you are gifted in that area please think of volunteering.
  • We need substitutes. Due to SAFE HAVEN guidelines we must have two SAFE HAVEN trained individuals in each class. Most times you will not be expected to teach, just assist.
  • We need young influencers who want to share their faith with our children. High school and college-aged folks are encouraged to be Assistant Catechists. If you are under 18 you don't have to complete the SAFE HAVEN class, you just need to sign a commitment form.

Contact the Director of Religious Education, Leslie McGowan, at leslie@sttheresachurch.com to volunteer or for any questions.

Take a look at the Qualities of a Catechist.  If you have these, please prayerfully consider being a part of our ministry.
